Hi, its me,_, One of my weaker habits of mind was _. To improve on it this past week I . It helped me because _ .During the quarter I learned ___about the habits of mind.

Hi, it's me, Alexis. One of my weaker habits of mind was thinking flexibly. To improve on it this past week I listened to other people's opinions and thoughts. It helped me because it allowed me to think of different solutions to problems. Once, somebody was telling me their opinion on a certain subject and I gained new insight to the situation. During the quarter I learned that the habits of mind are an important thing to understand and use in daily life.

  • Hello, it is I, Kempa and I also suffer from this weakness. I tend to think how I think, and every one else is wrong. Everyone. However, in the future I will do my best to think "outside the box".

Hi it's me Kaylee. One ofwas managing impulses. To improve on it this past week I refused a Coke on Sunday. And I didn't have one on Saturday when I could have. It helped me because I did not get caffine high and I was not putting bad things in my system. During the quarter I learned that this was a science experiment two doctors performed and that they are important life skills. I don't know if I will think about them as much... but they are very important. They are skills we should practice even if we don' t think about them... we snould just do them.

  • Kathryn here and i totally agree with you I had to do the same thing I just used IT as my example because it was linked better. I can definetaly relate.

Hi, its me,kaydee. One of my weaker habits of mind was working interdependantly. To improve on it this past week I worked better and listened to others in science so our project would be better. It helped me because I don't usually like to work in groups but I'm starting to be more open to it .During the quarter I learned that the habits of mind will not only help me now they will help me later in life like in my future work or in college and high school. I will try to think about them more often if I actually remember all of them later. LOL!
hola kaydee. I hate working with other people because some of them are idjits and morons. plus I have an overbearing ego and i can't stand when i am wrong.I hate putting other people's ideas in a group project.

Hi, its me, Kathryn. One of my weaker habits of mind was Working Interdependently. To improve on it this past week I have logged all of the projects that I have had to do. It helped me because in IT we get work ethic points. These points basically say how well you would work in a work setting with coworkers and a boss. When I though of my HOM it made me realize when i was stealing to much of the work and i got a perfect score on my work ethic points.During the quarter I learned that the HOM are comon traits among the most successful people in our world. I plan to use these in the future to become a successful journalist, or whatever eles I decide to do with my life.

  • This is Kelsay and I sometimes share this trait... I usually am the leader, and I work better alone, so I have problems with getting along with others, such as this one English project we did at the beginning of the year
  • This is Kaydee and I share this habit of mind as a weekness and I will be working at it this week at any chance that I can get and hopefully as long as I remember it.

Hi, its me,Jared, One of my weaker habits of mind was Striving For Accuracy. To improve on it this past week I have been thinking about doing the Habit of Mind. It helped me because thinking about the Habit of Mind will get me closer and closer to doing the Habit of Mind. If I keep reminding myself, like I have, I will continue to work on My Habit of Mind that does not really work with me during this present time of life and beyond (ya i'm just figuring out something else to write). During the quarter I learned about the 16 different habits of mind and how they can help me achieve to get to be a better person and how it can help me achieve with my future.

Hi it's me, Kelsay. One of my weaker habits of mind was metacognition. improve on it this past week I thought about how I put everything that I put off til last minute, such as my social studies brocheure that was due last Friday. It helped me because I realized that my work is better if I spend a little more time on it. During the quarter I learned that the habits of of mind aren't just traits, they are the way that you think and behave, kind of just the way you are. I will still think about them after ecs, but if I ever forget, I would contemplate designating a certain time for thinking about it.

  • This is Jared and I can agree to this Habit of Mind because i sure do need to work on Metacognition. I think if I work on my work more, it will become better in grades.

Hi, its me,Sarah, One of my weaker habits of mind was striving for accuracy because I only do what is necessary and don't overachieve .To improve on it this past week I had 5 projects due so I checked and checked and checked over and over again so I got them as near perfect as I could get them. It helped me because I am a just a get by kinda person . I don't overachieve or try to get the best grade possible. I only try to get an A .During the quarter I learned that a lot of things are important and that all of the habits of mind are transferable job skills and that they are very important if you want to be successful and a ruler of the world about the habits of mind.

  • Hello there, it's Alexis here. I also have trouble striving for accuracy. I will often rush through projects and not think about the quality of the work. I think if I set aside more time to work on things and concentrate, I can create better quality results.

Hi, its me, Kempa. One of my weaker habits of mind was listening with empathy and understanding. To improve on it this past week, I made sure to understand that every one else's problems are just as important as mine, especially at lunch time when everyone converges to talk about their day so far. It helped me because I got to know new things about people and how maybe their life experiences can apply to me. During the quarter I learned many habits of mind (16 to be exact), and how each of them helps you be a better person and be successful in the long run.

  • This is Kaylee, I share this habit of mind to. It is not a HUGE problem, but I still don't like to hear other peoples problems when I have my own. This week I have been trying to listen to other people before now I just got mad, but I try to understand better.

Taking Responsible Risks: Risk takers take risks, but not irresponsible risks. They like to live on the edge of their competence and extent of their knowledge and sometimes physical ability. They accept the confusion, uncertainty, and risk of failure. However, they are not impulsive. They take educated risks and think things through. They draw on past knowledge to help consider the consequences. they know that not all risks are worth taking.
Their are basically two types of risks that risk takers take: venture and adventure. An example of a venture would be someone who is going to invest in a start up company. It is a risk, but fir.st they look at the economy and the companies financial plans. The adventure risk could be like when someone checks the bungee cord strenth before they jump off a bridge.

Managing impulses is thinking before you act. People tend to do what first comes to mind and not think about the consuquences until later on. People who are good at managing impulses are more self-disciplined than others and don't tend to blurt out answers or make snap judgements. They eliminate need for trial and error by gathering data and reflecting on things before they act. They also make sure they understand everything and listen to to different points of view.

Finding Humor
Finding humor means looking at yourself or the situation with a different outlook and finding the humor in it. Most people are unable to laugh at themselves, and choose to find humor in those who are different, vulgarity, violence, and profanity. It has been shown that those who laugh have a physical difference. The blood vessels relax, stress disperses, and the immune system gets a boost. Laughing liberates creativity and provokes higher level thinking.
I think Jack has this strength and Kaydee has this weakness.

Responding with wonderment and awe is like enjoying everyone and thing. You don't see one big waterfall and then forget all the little things that bring joy. You see wonderfullness in every butterfly, you appreciate the hard effort the caterpillar does to get where he's going. If you forget the little things then you won't understand the big things, or appreciate them. They enjoy hard work and tasks that challenge them. They are curious and try to commune with the world around them.

Thinking and comunnincating with clarity and percision-
This is where you have very many ways talk and help other people understand what you are trying to say and that you understand what they are trying to say as well. This can be done in many ways such as defineing or using comparisions. Also many people learn in differnet ways so when you do a project it is best to have pictures, audio, as well as hands on stations. On any things you do clarity is key in Thinking and Communicating.
